Former Diageo and Procter & Gamble executive Peter McDonough has been named the new chief executive of Canadian-funded, New Mexico-based cannabis biotech firm Trait Biosciences Inc. Trait, which is a spinoff of Pebble Labs Inc., is focused primarily on plant genetics and developing water soluble cannabinoids through a yeast-based fermentation process. Mr. McDonough was Diageo North America’s president, chief marketing & innovation officer from 2009-2015. Prior to that, he was Procter & Gamble’s vice-president of European marketing overseeing Duracell Batteries and Braun Appliances. “We will tap heavily into Peter’s expertise and experience as Trait expands its focus on the North American market and builds its stature in the worldwide CBD infused beverage and Health & Wellness industry,” said Michael Harrison, Trait chairman, in a news release. The company also announced Dr. Rebecca White has joined the company as chief operating officer. Dr. White was previously vice-president, Operations with nutrition company Qualitas Health.
